Belief
Reflection
'We believe what we want to believe, what we like to believe, what suits our prejudices and fuels our passions.' (Sidney Harris) While certainly true — even obvious — this does not address the more important fact that we can *change* our beliefs through reflection and occasional revelation. By revelation I mean those "ah ha" moments in life when your entire point of view shifts. The problem is reflection takes work, and revelation requires a mind that is willing to accept it. So the real issue is not what a person believes at the moment, but how they nurture their beliefs to be a clearer lens with which to view the world.
