Everglades Trip - February 2000

Day 6 - Saturday, February 5

Turner River

Mud!

The last 10 feet were the most difficult. Both Peter and I got out our canoes to "walk" them to shore - not a bright idea. We both sank up to our pudenda in mud - very thick and smelly mud. There must be trillions of anaerobic bacteria living there making hydrogen sulfide. I lost my shoes. They threw me a rope and pulled me in.

Trail's End

All good things must come to an end. Back in Naples we enjoyed a boat ride and a good meal before departure for parts north early the next day.
