Lane Bay to Shark River

Our second day began chasing a rainbow down the Lane River. We then faced a decision to turn north into the Roberts River and North River, or try our hand at Whitewater Bay. We choose the bay because it was shorter, the wind was from the southwest, and the territory was new to us. We had a few tense moments moving from the lee of one island to the next, taking on a few gallons of water over the gunnels each time. We even got "pooped" once or twice with water flowing over the stern while we paddled vigorously to avoid the largest waves.

After lunch at the Watson River Chickee, we preceded into The Labyrinth, which consists of several miles of small intersecting creeks and ponds. Al's navigation got us through and a light rain had started as we pulled into Shark River Chickee. It was nice to have a dry campsite!
