Bays

photoThe next day was also "hard work." The wind continued to swing to the south, so we had it mostly behind us as we made our way up the chain of large bays (Last Huston, Huston and Oyster) between the Chatham and Lopez Rivers. We got to the Sunday Bay Chickee shortly after noon. The day turned nearly perfect, warm with a slightly cool breeze. We took the initiative to read our books and nap. A pair of fishermen from Miami arrived around 4pm to take the second platform.

photophotoHaving thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon we took our empty canoe for a spin just before sunset. There were large flocks of blue-winged teal hiding in the small inlets above the chickee. These proceeded to take off in waves and gave us a spectacular air show as they swooped and dove on all sides. The moon was one day short of full and looked mysterious rising amongst the clouds. We returned at sunset to prepare our dinner of vegetarian chili with cheese. Continue...
