Arrival at Flamingo

Al and I set out from Naples early Sunday morning only to find two parties in front of us at the Everglades City ranger station. Apparently there was a bit more competition for backcountry sites this year. Never the less, we got our first choices with no problem. The route we chose circled Whitewater Bay taking in a bit of the Gulf, Shark River and Canepatch. With our permit in hand we headed across the Tamiami Trail to the southern park entrance near Homestead. Camping at Flamingo was adequate. We stayed in the walk in, tents only section with a view of Florida Bay. Sue and Sue joined us near sunset.
