Lane Bay Chickee to Hells Bay Trail End

Sunrise was spectacular on our last day in the woods. This was supposed to be a short day. Our goal was to be out by noon so the Sues could hit the road for home. We almost made it. Unlike our experience in the creeks south of Shark River, we found the map was inacurrate in several critical details. We could not find a passage directly to Pearl Bay so we proceded south and picked up the marked Hells Bay Canoe Trail.

From there we counted down 180 numbered markers back to the main road. We needed them for the last three miles which wind through a confusing maze of mangrove tunnels and ponds. We did the five hour trail in three hours and fifteen minutes to bring us out by 12:30pm - another successful adventure completed!
