Our initial plan was to make it a large loop around Whitewater
Bay, including
the Shark River and possibly a tidal boomerang down to the Gulf. This
had the disadvantage of a one and a half day paddle on the fairly uninteresting Joe
River and
the associated bay. So
we decided to stay to the east instead. The Shark
River Chickee was not available on the day we needed it, so we grabbed Oyster
Bay as a reasonable alternative. One advantage of this plan was the availability
of multiple routes between campsites. This would give us a lot of discretion
and keep things interesting. »»»
