Poplar to Lizz Lake and Beyond

We were off! The morning was fair. The temperature was mild. We finally found the Poplar Lake access after making a wrong turn or two (it's at the extreme west end of the lake several miles down a gravel road).

It was an easy paddle down to the first portage. At that point we were not actually in the BWCA. The official entry point is midway on the tiny Lizz Lake. After a second, longer portage we had a short paddle on Caribou Lake. The last portage of the day was also short and we arrived at Horseshoe Lake by early afternoon. After the portage we did not see another party for more than a day, which was nice.
