BWCA Canoe Trip July 2002 Return to Horseshoe Lake This was by far our longest day and we were tired. Night was coming on fast and we were worried about finding a place to camp. We explored two campsites on the western arm of Horseshoe Lake but decided the site from our first night was better. Just to be sure, Bruce stayed at one less desirable site to hold it until we came back for him. As we paddled we discovered the osprey nest in a tall pine on the south shore. This time there was another party across the lake from us, but we could barely tell they were there. We cooked our last meal of pasta with sun-dried tomatoes, basil and pine nuts. The now familiar rock served as our dining room. We hit the tents early for a well deserved rest. Copyright 2002 by Richard Rathe & Family |
