Horseshoe to Gaskin Lake and Beyond

The next day broke misty and cool. The mist dispersed quickly as we got breakfast and packed up. Leaving Horseshoe Lake we confronted our first big portage, about a quarter mile over a substantial hill, to reach Gaskin Lake. This lake was well populated with campers, presumably because the fishing was good. We paddled on and crossed the second portage into Winchell Lake shortly after noon.
