Horseshoe to Poplar Lake and Home

Our trip back to civilization was uneventful as we retraced our steps through Caribou and Lizz Lakes. There were plenty of people going the other way. Some were portaging large coolers (beer?) and one party had the family cat in a cage!? We timed our trip just right (Tuesday to Friday) with three days of relative solitude.

After the last portage we stopped for lunch on a nice little island we spotted on the way in (the locals must use it for picnics). It had a perfect jumping rock, which we took full advantage of. The day was beautiful and warm. The water was cool and refreshing. The perfect end to a nearly perfect trip!
